Steve Lenox is a painter whose work examines our mediated relationship to nature—often taking inspiration from iPhone photos taken during walks through the woods as a paradoxical form of intimacy with the natural world. After studying painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in the early 1970s, the artist went on to pursue a 40-year long career designing aquarium, zoo, and nature center exhibitions and experiences. His recent return to painting combines elements of his early Abstract Expressionist work, with a heightened reverence for nature. Lenox resides in North Bennington, Vermont.
